Getting Things Done (GTD) can be done with Gmail.  It can help you a lot when it comes to organizing emails that consumes your time doing responses redundantly.  Gmail also has the capability with a to-do list called “Google Tasks.” That can be use to organize lists, rank items in a hierarchy of priority and defer projects that are not highly important.

David Allen shared the thought on action lists, organization, getting ideas out of your mind and reviewing your projects on a regular basis. Collect your thoughts, process them to delineate reference from action, organize them into projects, contexts and statuses, review the open loops, and do the actions that accomplish your goals. Gmail is best suit for this. You can easily access, easily automated, searchable and FREE!

For collection you can use the Hipster.  At the collection-time each Hipster index card is converted into an email. Otherwise, the thought goes straight into an email to ‘Me’ for processing as soon as possible. Important Note: ‘Me’ is the contact that points directly to my Gmail account. If you use forwarding addresses to your Gmail, sending yourself an email using the forwarding address will only place the email in ‘Sent’ which is a pain for processing.

In Process and organize, Once an email have been collected in your Gmail, they are processed. You can use Gmail’s labels and start to help you organize things up.

Then in Review and Do is already a self explanatory.

What remain are the new email notifications.  Have time to check emails in appropriate time.  Avoid yourself being interrupted and lose your concentration of what you are supposedly done.
